Voting open for RISC OS Awards 2014

Posted by Jeffrey Lee on 12:20, 8/12/2014 | ,

Vince Hudd of RISCOSitory and Soft Rock Software has announced that voting for the 2014 RISC OS Awards is now open.

Unlike with previous years, each category no longer has a set of pre-selected options which the voters must choose from. Instead, voters are given the full freedom to vote for whomever or whatever they wish. There are also several new categories to vote for, including best foreign language resource, and the "broken cog" award for the biggest failing/disappointment.

The polls are due to close at the end of January, but there's no reason why you shouldn't vote now if you've already made up your mind.

For anyone struggling to think of what to choose for each category, here are some options we came up with at the last ROUGOL meeting:

Yes, please! Get voting!

At this point, the poll has been open longer than it was last year, and the actual number of votes is disappointingly low.

As well as the options that ROUGOL have come up with above, there's also this post on RISCOSitory, which gives a fair few ideas for each category.

I'm not quite done yet with worky type stuff for this week - but when I am (maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow) I'll write a proper reminder type announcement for csa.announce and RISCOSitory, including links to both the above. (I've a few of other things that need posting to the site as well, I think.)

(Also, because all of my sites suffered some downtime last weekend, I might extend the voting deadline a little. Perhaps add a week to it.)

Meanwhile, VOTE!
